Destination Brazil with Luciano Porto

About This Program

The Dementia Society, in partnership with MASC, is excited to present Destination Brazil with Luciano Porto.  The music from Brazil is as vibrant as it is diverse.  Luciano illuminates its origins with original songs and traditional rhythms.  His stories provide artistic and cultural context, showcasing the blend of African, European, and Native influences in Brazilian music and dance.  Featuring flutes, strings, percussion, accordion, and even stilts, this cultural celebration is not to be missed!

Participants will enhance their musical knowledge by exploring the music from various cultures; gain an understanding of basic music elements such as beat, rhythm, dynamics, and tempo; and learn to care for and identify percussion instruments while accompanying songs with rhythm instruments.

MASC offers schools and communities arts experiences led by professional artists that awaken the creative process, deepen cultural awareness, encourage engagement, and give vivid demonstration of Canada’s diversity.  To learn more about MASC, click HERE.
