POSITION: Operations Support Team                 

STATUS: Summer Youth, Contract, Full-Time (35 hours per week)

REPORTS TO: Operations Coordinator

Work Environment: Virtual and in-person

Eligibility: Those 15-30 years of age who are eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program

We are transitioning to a hybrid work from the office and home model to support our community. This position will be primarily remote, though some work will be on-site and it is essential that the successful candidate is located within the National Capital Region. This position works closely with the Operations Coordinator to support various programs and initiatives of DSORC. Through conversation and the building of a relationship with their mentor, youth can gain greater knowledge of career success factors and first-hand insights into working for a non-profit organization.

Our summer program provides youth with an opportunity to witness the benefits of providing community support. The program, although structured, is designed in a flexible manner to ensure each youth’s needs and interests are met. As a summer youth employee, the successful applicant will work under the guidance of experienced employees on interesting initiatives. They will be given real responsibilities and gain real experience.


Assist DSORC with various administrative tasks, including database management, reporting requirements, inventory management, new space set up and organization, filing, etc.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Data entry
  • Filing, resource organization
  • Correspondence – via email and telephone with volunteers, community partners
  • Research – e.g. price quotations, sample documents, etc.
  • Other tasks as requested

 Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, intermediate to advanced proficiency with Excel is required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent telephone skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
  • Ability to manage deadlines
  • A motivated self-starter
  • Bilingualism will be considered an asset
