“Caregivers are Heroes”: Talking National Dementia Strategy
With the release of Canada’s $50 Million National Dementia Strategy, Dr. Andrew Frank of the Bruyère Memory Program spoke with Rob Snow on 580 CFRA.
Dr. Frank said he was pleased that the federal platform included assistance for caregivers, and spoke about the need for activities that keep people with dementia engaged but that also provide some respite for caregivers. He also talked about the critical support home care can provide for individuals and families.
He also said that he is thrilled with the language used in the strategy around finding an actual “cure” for dementia, but stressed how beneficial even delaying the onset or pushing back the progression of dementia could be.
