Leave a strong memory of your generosity with a legacy gift of life insurance.

Make an impact on the future of The Dementia Society by making a gift of your life insurance in your will.

A gift of life insurance in your will is a significant, and tax-efficient way for you to donate to The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County. Make provisions in your will to name The Dementia Society as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy. By choosing to give to The Dementia Society, your life insurance policy will have a great impact on those living with dementia, now and in the future.

There are three ways you can donate a life insurance policy to The Dementia Society:

1. Take out a new policy in the name of The Dementia Society. You will receive a tax receipt for the cash value of the policy and for any premiums you pay.

2. Name the Dementia Society as the beneficiary of your existing policy. This is a good option for those who have a policy that their family no longer needs for financial stability. At the time of your death, The Dementia Society will receive the policy proceeds and your estate will receive the tax benefits.

3. Transfer ownership of your existing policy to the Dementia Society and receive a charitable tax receipt for the cash value of the policy. If you owe annual premiums on the policy, you’ll still pay them, but you’ll also receive tax receipts in the amount of your payments.

To donate your life insurance policy to The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County, simply contact your insurance agent and provide them with the completed beneficiary or owner name change form from your life insurance provider.
