About Dr. Frank Knoefel

Frank Knoefel is a physician at the Bruyère Health Memory Clinic, Bruyère Health and holds the Chair of Primary Health Care Dementia Research at the Bruyère Health Research Institute (Ottawa, Canada). He is also a scientist with the AGE-WELL National Centre of Excellence network.

He holds appointments as Associate Professor with the Department of Family Medicine, University of Ottawa and is an Adjunct Research Professor with the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, Carleton University.

Dr. Frank’s clinical expertise is in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of cognitive decline and mobility challenges. His current research focus is on the use of technology in caring for older adults, with particular focus on monitoring and supporting cognitive decline and impacts of cognitive decline on driving. He also has extensive experience in administration, having had roles as Medical Director, Medical Chief, Chief of Medical Staff and Vice-President.

He is fortunate to be married to Kimberly and be a father to Arianna and Karina. He enjoys photography, sailing, snowboarding and travel.
