How The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County Helps Change the Story.

Wendy Grimshaw, Chief Executive Officer of The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County

This integrated campaign supports Canada’s National Dementia Strategy.

Campaign Goals

Change The Story invites people to learn more about the impact of dementia and how through compassion and understanding we can build a more inclusive community.

Change the Story was delivered via digital media, print media, radio, and events. The campaign reached millions with an objective to reduce the stigma surrounding dementia and create a compassionate community that embraces those affected by dementia.

Anti-stigma

The anti-stigma phase of the campaign was designed to educate community members that people living with dementia can continue to live meaningful and active lives.

Prevention

You can reduce your risk by up to 40%.  The campaign’s prevention information portion showcased various healthy lifestyle tips that significantly reduce the chance of developing dementia.

Client Stories

We showcased the stories of clients impacted by dementia and highlighted the positive changes they made.

Dementia Inclusive Training

The campaign promoted our dementia-inclusive training that helps businesses and organisations adapt their environments and customer service approach to better welcome customers living with dementia.
