This education session is intended for people who are experiencing Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), their close family members and friends, as well as anyone noticing changes or decline in memory. MCI involves memory loss that is greater than expected for one’s age, but not severe enough to interfere significantly with daily life and independence. Our guest speaker, Dr. Neil Thomas MD, FRCPC, MSc, will present this education session.

How MCI differs from dementia
The different types (classification) of MCI
Updates on biomarkers and what is currently available in Canada
The latest information on treatment options

Dr. Neil Thomas is a Cognitive and Behavioral Neurologist at the Bruyère Memory Program, an Assistant Professor of Neurology, Department of Medicine, University of Ottawa and an Affiliate Investigator, Bruyère Health Research Institute in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He holds a BSc and MSc in Neuroscience from Queen’s University. He completed his MD and neurology residency training at the University of Ottawa, and a Fellowship in Geriatric Neurology at the Oregon Health and Science University.
