Walk for Dementia 2024
Join us to mark World Alzheimer’s Day on Saturday, September 21 with friends, family and your community.
The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County has been providing education, programs and support to people impacted by dementia in our region for over forty years.
With rates of dementia expected to more than double by 2050, our services are needed no more than ever.
On Saturday, September 21st, our community is gathering once more for our 28th annual Walk for Dementia.
The Walk raises funds in support of the 24,000 people living with dementia in our region. Funds raised here stay here to help us make programs available free of charge across Ottawa and Renfrew County.
To help us ensure a safe and organized event, we have secured a City of Ottawa Special Event permit. For our Walk on Saturday, September 21st, Thurston Drive will be closed for 370m from the corner of St. Laurent Blvd to about 2161 Thurston Drive (approx. halfway to Conroy Road) from 6:30 am – 2 pm on Saturday 21 September.
The route—outlined in the graphic to the left—will be open to traffic with limited access during the rest of the event. We appreciate your understanding and trust this will not be too great an inconvenience.
We invite you to join this year’s Walk for Dementia. It’s a great opportunity to meet our team, learn more about our free programs and services, and to enjoy a fun Saturday morning in our community as you walk in support of people impacted by dementia.
