Café Marguerite en juin

About This Program

Program overview

Café Marguerite is a social activities program designed to offer moments of sharing and conviviality to people with dementia, while offering caregivers precious time for respite and sharing.

Our goal is to foster connections, understanding and a sense of belonging to a community among participants, caregivers and volunteers, in a warm and caring environment.

Participants benefit from a structured group setting where they can bond with their peers, participate in enjoyable activities and gain social confidence, preparing them to move on to other programs, such as adult day care centers.

Procedure

Each Café Marguerite session offers a varied program of stimulating activities, tailored to the interests and abilities of the participants. These activities may include:

  • Quiz
  • Bingo with prizes
  • Puzzles (e.g., Sudoku, matching games, counting games)
  • Card games (e.g., Uno, Rummy, Cribbage)
  • Gentle physical activities (stretching, beanbag tossing, dancing)
  • Musical shows
  • Artistic activities

Our priority is to create positive and personalized experiences where each participant feels valued, included, and supported.

For caregivers

Café Marguerite also offers valuable support to caregivers. While participants are present, caregivers can:

  • Exchange with other caregivers
  • Enjoy a short moment of respite
  • Find out about community support resources and services
  • Get advice from the staff at the Dementia Society on site
  • Informal caregivers can remain on site or leave during the session, depending on their needs.
