In-person Event
Join us for a special demonstration and trial of Nordic Pole-Walking led by trained Nordic Walking Group Leaders, Sarah Dehler & Anita Dehler.
Participants will be introduced to Nordic Walking starting with the basics of proper pole set up, preparing to Nordic walk with posture & technique and learning the many benefits of adding poles to walks for walkers of all abilities.
Participants should be able to walk unassisted by a mobility aid ( e.g. walker). Both people living with dementia and care partners are encouraged to participate.
Comfortable, closed toe walking shoes
Hat, sunscreen and sunglasses (personal preference)
The session will take place rain or shine (if raining, the session will take place indoors).
Snacks and a personal water bottle.
Nordic poles will be provided. If you have poles and are curious to have them adjusted properly, bring them along!
This event is being held in advance of new 6-week Nordic walking groups being hosted by Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre in Nepean (Bells Corners), Kanata/Stittsville, Carp and Constance Bay starting the week of May 18.
